Learn Self-Defense

Defending against a gang attack is a common situation in a street fight. Remember, even if you are an expert and believe you can hold your own, you're still up against multiple attackers. It's an unfair situation, you're at a disadvantage and you need to understand that.
Having said that, another thing to remember is you should always remain up. If you hit the ground, you're in trouble, especially in this type of situation.
Another thing to remember in this type of situation is that you need to be aware of your opponent's body language, their stance, their communication, etc. You do not know how they are going to move or how they will position themselves, so you need to try your best to read them through their stance.
One thing to avoid when being surrounded by multiple attackers is being static. You must avoid being static in this type of situation. In this scenario, you should focus on striking first and moving around. Do not stay still, it won't be advantageous for you. You either have to be ready to hit and fight as much as you can, or get out as quickly as possible.
The most important thing to learn here is how to position yourself. You should always keep one of the attackers in front of you, in the middle of the other ones. Do not let them surround you, this will lead to you getting most likely injured or thrown on the ground from them striking at you.
All in all, strike first, keep track of your attackers body language and stance, and most importantly, don't stay static in this type of situation.
