I was kinda lucky though!
I LOVED TRAINING!!!
So, when my first coach and the gym owner essentially told me to go figure it out myself (yes I am being nice there.ha)… I did just that!
It was the late 90's so TV was VERY different! We had these things called "commercials".haha. So, while I was in college, at night, while I watched Star Trek or another nerd show.haha I would practice wrapping my hands during commercials… I did this so often, it didn't tak me long before I didn't have to even look at my hands:-)
For years, at different MMA, Boxing and of course Muay Thai fight events from San Diego to Las Vegas, fighters would ask me to wrap their hands…I thought it was awesome that they saw me wrap my students hands and liked it so much that they asked for me to do it.
I remember 1 time at a popular promotion in Vegas, "Stitch" came up and watched me wrap my guys hand… He said, "Nice…I get paid a lot of money to wrap hands like that."…It doesn't get cooler than that people…at least when it comes to wrapping hands. ha
However!!!
On a trip to train in Thailand, a trainer I worked with showed me "his" way to wrap hands and I absolutely loved it! I took his method and my method and hybridized them into easily the best handwrap i have ever felt on my hand.
